Have been checking your website from time to time and reading with interest. We are www.overlandwithkids.com - planning to overland UK to Australia with our children departing April 2010. Am following Graham's (www.drive-to-oz) and know Dan of Lonewolf from following his website also. Anyhow, just wanted to say HI Regards Andy, Anne, Jess and AJ

Hello Andy, Anne, Jess and AJ! Welcome to Jollyfollies Love your website, particularly the graphic of the 4 our you. Nice touch It looks like you are quite far down the planning stage, perhaps a bit like us, having to extend the planning stage to afford the dram of a lifetime. Well we are now 10 months away, and we have counted this down from 36! Getting closer and closer. If there is anything we can do to help, even if it is to send you some of our budgetary knowledge when we get going, let us know. Our route is currently under review and we have decided to skip China, to save on expense. It's a decision we have umm'd and ahh'd over for quite a while, but decided to to it to extend our time away, among other reasons. We may now spend up to six months in India instead. Anyway, nice of you to get in touch, hope your enjoying the planning. All the best Ollie and jenny

Thanks for your kind comments regarding our site. We like yours too - we reviewed your equipment list which led us to buying a 'Kelly Kettle' (we opted for 'Storm Kettle' but same) Yep - would have to say we will probably top your 36 months planning - we began by placing house on the market to raise cash originally Feb 2007 and by the time we go will be 38 months in all (aside from the 20 years dreaming about it!). Like yourselves, we are still saving to realise the dream! Big plans don't come cheap! India for 6 months sounds nice - we'd like to do China and India and ALL of it - it's on our radar but similarly have to balance and control versus difficulty/cost and how it impacts rest of our travel plans. We have a high level plan but constantly keep looking at it and adding things/places of interest. Don't know about you but countdown is painful - just can't wait to go - but suppose patience is a virtue! Am counting your departure date with you (will make our countdown seem kinder also) - we will be going exactly one year after you. Take care www.overlandwithkids.com

We love the kelly kettle. A much better way of warming up in the morning than watching a slow gas kettle boiling The countdown seems to be speeding up as a bit as we get closer. Whereas the endless lists that I managed used to look like fun, now they are starting to look daunting! But I do find myself grinning a lot when I think where we will be in a years time. Also giving myself little mini challenges along the way has helped, such as running the marathon and the JOGLE. I'm not natually a fit guy, so these have been big challenges that have given me something else to focus on. One good thing about not going to China now is we aren't really tied down to time, only to miss the Monsoon in India, but that jsut means getting there after October. Not sure how long we'll be away, but hopefully a very long time. Ahhh dreams Well hope everything is still going well for you guys Cheers Ollie
